The British driver Lando Norris Secures First F1 World Championship in Yas Marina Despite Verstappen's Grand Prix Triumph.
Through an exhibition of nerveless driving, the McLaren driver has clinched his maiden Formula One world championship by achieving third place at the Yas Marina race. Norris closed out his success with clinical precision to take the championship that had been so close but eluded him as McLaren found themselves floundering at the last two races. These included a double disqualification in Las Vegas and then an questionable tactical decision in Qatar.
It was a significant accomplishment for the 26-year-old in his seventh season in F1, each one with McLaren. He stuck with the squad even during some difficult periods, believing they would come good. That belief was rewarded in Abu Dhabi.

Red Bull instructed their driver to delay Norris, which resulted in a dramatic overtaking attempt where Norris went up the inside line, almost completely off the track.
The incident was looked at by the race officials, with several impossibly tense laps elapsing before a time penalty for his rival and exoneration for Norris settled the matter. This decisive charge unimpeded was vital to his title fight.
Contrasting Fates
While Norris became the first Briton to win the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2020, the difference in form between the two was stark. As the young guns battled over the title, Hamilton, the veteran, could only finish eighth place in Abu Dhabi, a disappointing conclusion to a dismal season with Ferrari.
Making his debut with the Italian team had been greeted with excitement but has yielded what was easily his most challenging year ever, ending up sixth in the championship and failing to secure a podium. He has appeared weary in the final rounds and will look to rebuild over the off-season.
