Football Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle

During a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.

Dominant Performance Wins Game

Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.

The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes left.

Historic Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long kick.

The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn stated following the contest.
