Arise, Sir David Beckham: Beckham Knighted by the Monarch at Windsor Castle Investiture

David Beckham was bestowed with a honorary title at the historic royal residence on the weekday. The former England captain, 50, was among those accepting honours for his contributions to sport and philanthropy. Earlier this year, he expressed he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

The player first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was a key member that earned a dramatic Champions League final victory in the late nineties when they defeated Bayern Munich with last-minute strikes.

Overall, he scored 85 goals and collected honours including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a footballer, before retiring from the sport in 2013. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has backed a number of charity causes, including serving as a charitable representative for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since the mid-2000s.

Charitable and Other Roles

In the previous year, the sports star, who has described himself as a “huge royalist”, was appointed an official representative for the royal educational charity, an educational charity established by the King in the early nineties. In 1998 he was declared top fashion icon by a leading publication and he has posed for companies such as the fashion retailer, Armani, and Boss.

David tied the knot with Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the couple have four children together – Brooklyn, the second son, Cruz, and Harper.
